I support strong commercial development in our city. Draper is particularly well-situated geographically between the major economic hubs of the Wasatch Front.  With the upcoming prison relocation, commercial development is of critical importance. It is my goal to create a good balance between the residential needs of our city with the economic growth opportunities Draper will certainly continue to attract.

It is my goal to offset the increasing costs of public safety and roads through innovative and open-minded strategies. As Draper is built out, fees from development will naturally dry up causing a possible shortfall in taxes. I will use my influence to get money from the county and state and avoid raising taxes. I will also look at ways to save money through the budgetary process.

Density & Zoning:

The population along the Wasatch Front is expected to double in the next two decades and Draper is already experiencing incredible growth. As a Draper City Planning Commissioner since 2013, I have thoughtfully analyzed all zone requests, use changes, and conditional use permits that have come before the Commission. Quality housing projects and strategic commercial growth that is balanced and wisely planned has been my top priority. Moreover, I have consistently voted against Geneva Rock’s request to rezone portions of their property from Agricultural to Mining. The risks of Geneva’s expansion to adjacent landowners and the air quality of the valley are too harmful.

Road congestion along Draper’s few major cross routes is a challenge our city faces every day. This is one of my top concerns and it is my goal to work collaboratively with state and local officials. It is my goal to expand and improve our roads to proactively address and alleviate Draper’s increasing traffic congestion.

Recreational Assets:

Draper is not only a fantastic place to live and work, but also play. Many residents of our city were drawn here by its proximity to exceptional hiking and biking trails in the Corner Canyon area. These are unique amenities that deserve special protection and safeguarding while remaining functional and accessible to everyone. I am a huge advocate of providing recreational space and amenities to enhance our quality of life in Draper.
